The Unwanteds

The Cry of the Icemark

The Cry of the Icemark

Review By: Lily

Date: April 23, 2015

Overall Grade: A B C D E F + -

My thoughts on this book:

Thirrin Lindenshield is next in line for the crown. She doesn't care to learn about anything unless it has to do with weapons or war. She must learn to trust her friends and herself if she is to win the war. As cheesy as this may sound, from this book, I have learned to trust my friends because they will always be there you. They might be a bit late, but they will be there.

Memorable ideas or quotes:

Quotes:

"Small or not, Master Pussycat, I will not go back, unless, of course, I take your head as a trophy for my wall."

*Insight: Thirrin's temper can help her make alliances or get her in a lot of trouble.

My thoughts on this book:

This book is amazing. It kept my interest all the way through the book. I love how The Hidden Twin is only 275 (ish) pages long, but it feels longer (maybe because of the details). I was, from the start, excited to read this book and it sure didn't disappoint! One of my favorite parts of the book is the end. I love how Adi Rule ended the book with a small cliff hanger. It is big enough to make me want more, but small enough that I don't need to chase Adi Rule down and demand for an answer. (It's more like I have to send a little letter politely asking for the answers I need.) The best part of this book for me is how it does NOT go down the cliche road. It seemed to be going that way but in the end, The Hidden Twin's plot twisted once more. *I received this book from Goodreads Giveaways. This is my honest opinion.*

Memorable ideas or quotes:

An idea that I picked up was don’t judge a person by their looks or what type (gender, race, etc.) of person they are. Judge them by their actions and how they treat others.

Quotes:

“My name?” I press the edge of the blade into my flesh until I can feel the blood trickling down my neck in thick, hot rivulets. The others jump to their feet. Mugs clatter to the floor. Fir’s eyes widen and she tries to back away. I release the blade, now black with my extraordinary, unmistakable blood. “My name is Redwing.”

My thoughts on this book:

I think that this book was very fun to read. Because it has clear ties to certain books, it has interesting connections, but it's also distinctly different from any book you've read before.

Memorable ideas or quotes:

"Quill prevails when the strong survive."

"Die a thousand deaths!"
